M0VKG's Shack
|
The shack is somewhat temporary - and modest - at the moment, being set up in the conservatory. The main transceiver in it is a Yaesu FT-897D, which along with an LDG Z100Plus ATU runs into a long wire for HF, and a homebrew 1/4 groundplane antenna for 2 metres and 70 centimetres. The FT-897D - being a portable rig - is useful for working from alternative locations, which I do from time to time. For mobile work, I use a Yaesu FT-60, with an old Yaesu FT-50R as backup. In the car I have an Icom IC-T8E, which although also a handheld is wired up with a fist microphone and a small whip mounted on the roof of the car. Two temporary additions to the shack are a Yaesu FT-227R and a Paccom Tiny 2 TNC, which are on loan from Finningley ARS while I do some development work with packet and APRS. |
